Good morning everyone! It’s a lovely autumn day in Oregon.
This is a short post announcing that my second self-published book of Instagram poems, I Burnt the Card You Gave Me, is now available for purchase on Amazon as both a paperback and an E-book. This is a collection of all the poems I wrote and published to my IG account in summer of 2020.
I put this book together as a way of pushing myself to reach out beyond IG and my blog to reach a wider audience with my work. I started the IG poem journey in 2020 because I felt so disconnected from the world I was used to having at my fingertips. Covid-19 put everything to a standstill and I found myself single and cut off from pretty much any and all means of physical connection with friends and my greater social group. I didn’t leave my house for months at a time, and any time I did leave, it was for exercise or meeting up a my partner’s condo. No eating out, no going out, no hanging out.
It was a rough year for me, though I know it was rough for everyone and, comparatively speaking, I had it easier than others. I didn’t have to worry about rent or bills or evictions. But I did suffer through the disconnected feeling, and that took a toll on my mental health. So I started posting poems to my IG as a means of reaching a wider audience and, hopefully, bond with people online over a mutual love of the written word. And that’s exactly what happened.
So now the step becomes continuing to reach outward and expand my audience.
I encourage you to take a look at my book here. And if you feel so inclined, please purchase a copy and spread the word.
